Assessments in Professional Military Education: Investigating Natural-Language Processing as a Substitute for Multiple-Choice Response Formats

Abstract

The current project examined the utility of using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to replace multiple-choice assessments in an existing course. A prototype tool was developed and tested. This paper provides a proof-of-concept for using NLP to replace multiple-choice assessments. Challenges to this approach are identified.
