Considerations for Integrating Women into Closed Occupations in U.S. Special Operations Forces

Abstract

In January 2013, the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced the rescission of the 1994 Direct Ground Combat Definition and Assignment Rule (DGCDAR) and their intention to integrate women into occupational fields to the maximum extent possible and in accordance with validated, gender-neutral occupational standards.
