2019 Mixed Integer Programming Workshop
Abstract
The 2019 Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) Workshop was hosted by the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on July 15-18th, 2019 in Cambridge, MA. The workshop had approximately 200 registered students and researchers from all around the world, and a record of 59 student poster submissions. The program consisted of 21 invited talks by world-renown researchers, junior faculty, and postdoctoral fellows, and of 49 poster presentations, all by Ph.D. students. The MIP workshop is designed to encourage participation of junior researchers in integer programming and related areas, and to increase their visibility at an early stage in their career. In order to allow for broader participation, efforts are made to keep the cost of attendance low. The ONR contribution provided travel support of up to $500 each to a diverse group of ten Ph.D. students in order to present posters of their research on integer programming. Thanks to this support, many students were given a valuable opportunity to present their work and solicit feedback from academic and industry leaders.
