My Story in Computing with Carol Smith

Abstract

My background is in human-computer interaction. I am a senior research scientist here at the SEI, working on emerging technology, specifically artificial intelligence [AI] and working on quantum computing, and all kinds of various areas in that emerging technology portion. The work that I do is really trying to understand the peoples needs. What are their needs with regards to these technologies? How can we make sure that the systems that they are using are really going to be helpful to them, that they are going to be able to complete their tasks, that they are able to be augmented by these technologies rather than frustrated by them?
