Report of Test of Samples of Ultra Steatite 682 Submitted by the General Ceramics Company

Abstract

The loss factor of the material was determined on samples after they had been soaked in distilled water for 96 hours. The moisture absorption tests were made in two ways, namely: (1) to conform to the usual practice of measuring relatively large places where the newly fractured surface may represent 25 percent of the total surface unfractured; and (2), where at least 60 to 75 percent was newly fractured with the respect to the total area. All data for these tests were taken after 100 hours of immersion.
