Progress Report on Use of Chaplets in Steel Castings

Abstract

The effect of chaplets on the soundness of steel castings is studied using different types of chaplets obtained from a commercial concern. All variables "Were held constant, the pieces being tested under comparable conditions. Theoretical considerations are included covering factors which might contribute to lack of fusion a.t the cast metal-chaplet interface. A program for future research is included.
