Abstract

Lung cancer accounts for more cancer-related mortality than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined, and greater than half of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. Both the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) and Nederlands-Leuvens Longkanker Screenings ONderzoek (NELSON)trial have demonstrated that low dose CT screening (LDCT) reduces mortality in high-risk patients.
