Keying Characteristics of Station NSS

Abstract

This report is a study of oscillograms made in the Radio Receiver Section of the Naval Research Laboratory of keyed signals transmitted by Station NSS at Annapolis. Distortion of the signals by the receiver was avoided by broadening its circuits. Considerable distortion and attenuation of the dot signals were observed, especially at the lowest frequency used, 15.44 kcs. Oscillograms were enlarged and analyzed to determine the loss in amplitude and power, and curves were drawn to determine the effective Q of the antenna.
