Evaluation of Six Experimental Anti-Fouling Coatings Submitted by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company

Abstract

The general physical properties of these materials were studied as well as their anti-fouling qualities. The usual tests for weathering (durability), resistance to abrasion, and their adhesion and toughness were made. To evaluate their anti-fouling properties, panels were prepared in triplicate and sent to Miami, Guantanamo Bay, and San Juan for submarine exposure in media conductive to the rapid growth of various types of marine life.
