Vacuum Tube Current Amplifier for Inter-Departmental Distribution
Abstract
A simple, stable, portable, current amplifier is described which is capable of amplifying d. c. currents of .5 microampere or larger to a value sufficient to ac uate a recorder requiring 500 microamperes. Circuit, theory, and uses are described. A triode vacuum tube is used as a degenerative current amplifier. The linearity and zero stability are excellent. The output is sufficient to operate a rugged meter or recorder. The maxium current amplification is 1000, permitting a full scale reacting with .5 microampere input. Uses as a d.c. or a.c. voltmeter, ohmmeter, photocell and galvanometer amplifier, and as an electrometer are also suggested.
