Weaponry: Availability of .50 Caliber Semiautomatic Rifles

Abstract

As you requested, enclosed with this letter is a copy of a briefing that I gave to you and other minority members of the House Committee on Government Reform on May 3, 1999. At that time, I briefed those present on the result of our review, which you requested, concerning the availability of .50 caliber semiautomatic rifles, the ability to acquire certain types of ammunition used in such rifles, and the possible criminal misuse of such rifles.
