DOD INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Revised Policies Needed

Abstract

Based on our evaluations in each service and DLA, we concluded that DOD needs to place emphasis on identifying the systemic causes of inventory accuracy problems; however, DOD does not have the data it needs to assess where the basic problems are. Too much emphasis has been placed on making inventory accuracy rates look better, rather than identifying and addressing the causes of inventory accuracy problems.
