XB-70 Flight Test Report, Flight 1-5

Abstract

The fifth flight (Flight 1-5) of XB-70 No. 001, crewed by Mr. Al White, North American Aviation, Inc (NAA), Pilot, and Colonel Joseph Cotton, Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC), Copilot, was accomplished on 16 Feb 65. The flight originated at AF Plant 42, Palmdale, California where the aircraft had undergone layup since 24 Oct 64 for completion of Phase II Proof Loading Tests. Flight termination was at Edwards AFB, California. Total flight time was one hour and ten minutes of which thirty-nine minutes were at super-sonic speeds.
