Analysis of the XB-70 Accident

Abstract

Analysis of the XB-70 accident with references to Mr. White, Mr. Walker, Mr. Fritz, Commander Skyrud, Captain Hoag, Captain Cotton, and Major Cross. This is not dated but is prior to 2012. It is concluded that the most probable cause of the accident was the gradual and inadvertent reduction in lateral separation between the F-104 and the XB-70 airplanes as a result of the F-104 pilots flying for a long period of time under conditions of poor visual references and in the vicinity of an undefined flow field.
