Abstract

The twelfth flight was completed on 7 May 65. Flight crew was Mr. Al White, North American Aviation, Inc (HAA), Pilot, and Lt Colonel Fitzhugh Fulton, Air Force Flight Test Center Copilot. Takeoff from Edwards AFB runway 22, at 513,068 pounds gross weight, occurred at 1107 hours PDST. Takeoff gross weight was heaviest to date. An emergency landing on Rogers Dry Lake runway 18 was made at 1232 hours PDST. Total flight time was one hour and twenty-five minutes (1+25), total supersonic 0+58, total M 2.0 or greater 0+32, and total M 2.5 or greater 0+07. Maximum speed and altitude was Mach 2.58 at 65,000 feet.
