Need to Improve Performance Standards for More Efficient Use of Civilian Production Personnel in the Department of Defense

Abstract

The General Accounting Office (GAO) reviewed the performance standards used to measure the work production of civilian personnel at three Defense industrial activities - one Army, one Navy and one Air Force activity. GAO's purpose was to evaluate the effectiveness of the development and utilization of the performance standards in contributing to economical and useful management of production on labor.
