Alliances and Smart Power

Abstract

This monograph focuses on the historical relationship between Syria and the United States. It briefly discusses the challenges created by past US administrations and how they have built roadblocks to achieving a political settlement to the Syrian Civil War. This monograph will accomplish this by analyzing Syrian and American relations through the instruments of national power in the application of smart power. In so doing, use the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action as a framework for implementing the three-track proposal by the Trump administration as a solution to the Syrian Civil War.
