Financial Audit 1999 Financial Report of the United States Government

Abstract

Implementation of important legislative reforms remains underway to promote greater accountability in managing the finances of our national government. These reforms include requirements for annual audited financial statements for 24 major departments and agencies as well as preparation of the financial statements of the U.S. government, which GAO is required to audit. Our report is included in the accompanying Treasury publication, Fiscal Year 1999 Financial Report of the United States Government (Financial Report). This letter highlights our conclusions.
