Medical ADP Systems: Defense Achieves Worldwide Deployment of Composite Health Care System

Abstract

The Composite Health Care System (CHCS) is an automated, integrated medical information system developed by the Department of Defense at an estimated life-cycle cost of about $2.8 billion. The ultimate purpose of this system is to improve the quality of medical care and minimize the cost of providing it for over 8 million beneficiaries of Defenses health care system.
