Clean Energy Propulsion: A DOD Imperative

Abstract

The Department of Defense has an immense strategic, operational, and budgetary imperative to find an alternative to petroleum for powering what can be seen as its center of gravity - its power projection capability - its mobility - most specifically its aviation branches. A clean, sustainable propulsion system for air power would greatly reduce the DOD's critical vulnerability to power projection. Given the movement to increase distributed, Phase 0 operations, the urgency has never been greater.
