Understanding the Capability and Versatility of the KC-130J Harvest Hercules Airborne Weapons Kit (HAWK)

Abstract

The Marine Corps decided to upgrade to the Harvest HAWK Plus model in response to system limitations and to better support the MAGTF. The upgraded model will upgrade and reposition the targeting sensor, receive a newly designed fire control station, receive a new communication suite, and regain its left external fuel tank. The VMGR community and MAGTF planners must develop a plan to integrate Harvest HAWK into MAGTF operations. The KC-130J Harvest HAWK's capabilities must be understood at all levels of the MAGTF in order to avoid a lack of utilization of one of the most versatile and lethal Marine Corps assets.
