Lightning Versus Thunder: The Defense of the F-35 Program

Abstract

By the time The United States Department of Defense has developed and purchased its fleet of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, it will invest nearly $1.5 trillion. However, in a world of evolving military powers, the F-35 will provide the US with unprecedented air-to-air and air-to-ground supremacy through advanced targeting coupled with sensor fusion technology. The F-35 brings unmatched lethality and situational awareness to any battlespace it enters. The sensor fusion technology gives the US warfighter the advantage of information dominance. Although the F-35 program experience several setbacks with timeline constraints and defense spending, it should by no means be underestimated in its capability.
