A Struggle to Commit to a Noble Cause: Why the Syrian Civil War Challenges the Relevancy of the United Nations

Abstract

The United Nations (UN) by being prevented from mandate to restore peace in Syria by its Security Council permanent members, makes the organization to looks ineffective and outdated. This polarized conflict by the United States and Russia, makes the UN handicapped to achieve its mission, and as such, its prosperity becomes questionable. The implied question is, does the UN has the capability and flexibility to respond to this internal challenge, and achieve its mission.
