Using Big Data to Build a Strategic Warning Process
Abstract
The U.S. national security apparatus considers the provision of strategic warning to decision makers a critical capability. Using unclassified publicly available information along with the analytics that comprises "Big Data," the United States Intelligence Community can build an intelligence process to inform strategic warning identifying innovative and insightful trends on the future operating environment. The explosion of publicly available information creates the dynamic of "Big Data." Building the appropriate analytical framework along with incorporating the innovative use of Big Data analytics that uses publicly available information as the collection source can establish a strategic warning process.
