The Process and the Reasons behind the New European Global Strategy and Its Major Implications

Abstract

Europe needed to rethink the way in which to better promote its values, particularly when an ideological, political, and economic competition raised both in the countries of the Southern and of the Eastern neighborhood. The process allowed obtaining a more comprehensive document from the point of view of possible contributions from all parties involved in shaping the new European strategy. The new strategy will guide the EUs external action for the years to come. The strategy is a broad document that leaves the opportunity to develop further sectorial strategy and foresee a mechanism for its own updating.
