Strengthening Moral Courage with Spiritual Fitness

Abstract

Military leaders should consider moral courage as a center of gravity for their operational decisions because it is an essential characteristic and capability for wise decision making. Further, fidelity is a vital aspect yet critical vulnerability for moral courage. Military decision makers should consider how fidelity may be exploited by fear of social consequences and edified by spiritual fitness. Finally, this paper will propose ways military chaplains may advise commanders in spiritual fitness practices to strengthen moral courage.
