Examination of Retention Techniques to Incentivize Navy Dental Corps Millennials to Remain on Active Duty and Considerations for Leaders

Abstract

Since Millennials comprise nearly fifty percent of active duty Dental Officers, this paper will analyze if the United States Navy Dental Corps' retention techniques are effectively targeting Millennial Dental Officers. It is imperative that the Navy Dental Corps continues to focus on retaining good quality leaders. The Millennials desire continuous feedback, mentorship, and to feel that their work is meaningful. In order to effectively communicate and connect with Millennials, it is important for leaders to understand the cultural differences of its workforce.
