The Al-Quds Force: Implications for Stability in the Middle East

Abstract

The Islamic Republic of Iran is utilizing the legendary Al-Quds Force as a tool of their foreign policy interests in the Middle East. In Yemen, the Al-Quds Force is supporting the Houthi rebel group in its efforts to defeat the central government. This conflict serves as one of many regional proxy wars between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. If the Al-Quds Force can propel the Houthi's to victory, the regional balance of power in the Middle East will sway in favor of Iran, an outcome that is detrimental to long term stability in the region.
