Dune Leadership Lessons

Abstract

Published almost sixty years ago, Frank Herbert's science fiction novel Dune has many leadership lessons for the military today. Four excerpts address the concepts of getting buy-in, knowing how to lead people for whom a leader is responsible, delegating down, and embracing risk when needed. These lessons are difficult to implement but are crucial to effective leadership and organizational success.
