Eliminating Marine Corps Logistics Overlap Saves Millions; Further Savings Possible

Abstract

GAO followed up on its 1975 recommending the Marine Corps reduce the scope of, its logistics activities. While GAO found the corps has eliminated some overlap in its logistics functions, further reductions are possible through greater reliance on other Defense integrated logistics managers. Costs should be reduced without impairing the Marine Corps' mission.
