Beyond Bitcoin to the Blockchain: Security Implications of Blockchain Technology

Abstract

This paper focuses on the potential security implications from the emergence of cryptocurrencies, Blockchain technology, and its capabilities. This subject often is simplified to the bitcoin phenomenon and wrongly ignored. It should be noted that a significant portion of this subject has parallels to the cyber domain, of which some areas may be classified. However, this subject while nascent and obscure, warrants deeper dialogue to understand the future use cases of Blockchain technology along with the security implications which should be observed.
