Preventing the MDCOA: The Army's Need to Organize, Train, and Equip for a Megacity Conflict

Abstract

Conducting military operations within a megacity is an immediate problem set facing the United States Army, and in order to fight and win in this new environment, the Army must critically review and implement the requisite changes to its organization, training and materiel. The Army must implement immediate changes and prepare now for the megacity fight. Through the organization, the Army must develop a specialized megacity force. Next, the Army must train this newly organized force with a specialized megacity training program. Finally, this force must be equipped with the latest technology to operate successfully and achieve limited objectives in a multi-domain environment.
