Resilience: How a Leader Can Influence and Motivate Subordinates to Overcome Obstacles

Abstract

This paper examines the importance of a leader establishing a meaningful relationship with his or her subordinates. Lieutenant General John A. Lejeune describes the establishment of this relationship as an officer's ethical responsibility. Through this relationship, a leader can influence and motivate the mental, physical, and spiritual/moral resilience of his other subordinates.
