Retention and Talent Management: The Urgent Need to Modernize Force Retention

Abstract

The modernization of the military force, increased competition between the military and civilian sectors, and the militarys inability to conform to rapidly changing social norms represent the three most significant challenges to military retention. For the Marine Corps and the DoD to retain the highest caliber force they will need to develop new contemporary retention strategies that align with trending societal norms and reflect the needs and desires of the modern labor force.
