Creating Awareness: Toxic Leadership Within The Marine Corps Officer Corps

Abstract

The Marine Corps continues to relieve commanding officers due to command climate related issues. These commanders fostered a toxic working environment resulting in poor command climates that degraded the unit's performance. How is it that hand selected officers reach levels of command and leadership positions without previously being identified as toxic leaders? The thesis will take a look at the Marine Corps Professional Military Education and determine the level of exposure and awareness the topic of toxic leadership receives.
