The Arctic: America's Untold Battlefield

Abstract

Over the last 26 years four presidential administrations have paid homage to the Arctic and the role it plays in the security of U.S. and national interests. Although acknowledged in National Defense and Arctic Strategies, very little guidance or action has been placed on achieving strategic success in the Arctic. With Russia's dominant reemergence in the Arctic, and China claiming to be a "near-Arctic State," the time for the U.S. to revitalize priorities and investments into the Arctic is no greater than now.
