Know Your Business: Naval Construction and Engineering Capability in the Future Integrated Naval Force

Abstract

Significant redundancies exist between the Naval Construction Force, Amphibious Construction Battalion, and the Marine Corps Combat Engineer Battalion, Engineer Support Battalion, and Marine Wing Support Squadrons which necessitates are alignment of force structure and resources. This considerable duplication of capability provides the Department of the Navy a unique opportunity to realign the force structure needed for each service to carry out its required core missions and then divest of the rest. The saving generated from the divestiture of duplicate capability can then be reinvested in higher priority requirements to build the future integrated naval force.
