The Value of Emotional Intelligence to Help Mitigate Suicide Rates in the U.S. Military

Abstract

The increase in the suicide rates of US service members and veterans since 2004 has become a cause for great concernfor the Departments of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA). Research shows that providing emotional intelligencetraining can improve the resilience of US military personnel and help reduce problems such as suicide and PTSD.
