TOP 01-2-826 Characterization of Solar Test Equipment for Heating Effects Testing

Abstract

This Test Operations Procedure (TOP) describes the general methodology for characterization of Solar Test Equipment that is used for Military Standard (MIL-STD)-810 Change Notice (CN) 1, Method 505 Solar Radiation Procedure I Cycling (Heating). Experience has shown that large facility-to-facility variations can exist in the solar test equipment, procedures, and ultimately the heating imparted to the test item. The methods described herein also support characterization and reduction to variation at a test facility over time due to degradation of the system, maintenance, and facility modifications. This TOP defines a standard set of guidelines for instrumentation and procedures for characterizing the applied environment in a solar test chamber.
