Combustion Scaling and Modeling: Fire Suppression by Nitrogen Pressurization: 1 - Preliminary Test Data, NRL 5000-Liter Facility, Test Configuration 1
Abstract
Gas mixing rates were studied in a 5000-liter cylindrical tank by observation of gas temperatures with thermocouple probes during pressurization from 1 to 2 atmospheres through a nozzle 25.4 mm in diameter in ca. 14 seconds. Pressurant concentrations may be inferred from temperature measurements. Two preliminary experimental runs are reported in which air is used as both the pressurant and the resident gas under nonfire conditions.
