Developing Intuition: How Virtual Simulation with Artificial Intelligence Can Build Expertise in General Officers

Abstract

Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication (MCDP) 6, Command and Control, states that, "Because uncertainty and time will drive most military decisions, we [the Marine Corps] should emphasize intuitive decision making as the norm and should develop our leaders accordingly."1The intuitive approach emphasizes experienced judgement and intuition for decision making rather than deliberate analysis, to generate tempo and provide for flexibility amid uncertainty.
