Summaries of GAO Conclusions and Recommendations on Appropriation Matters for Civil Departments and Agencies

Abstract

This is our first annual report of summaries of GAO conclusions and recommendations on Federal civil departments and agencies operations which we believe will be of interest to your Committee in its review of budget requests for fiscal year 1976. Our reports have previously brought these matters to the attention of the Congress and departmental officials. We have not included suggested questions to be asked in appropriation hearings; however, we will suggest specific questions on the items summarized if you desire. This report replaces our previous annual report of significant audit findings in the Federal civil departments and agencies. A report of conclusions and recommendations concerning the Department of Defense is being submitted separately.
