Second Partial Report on N.R.L. Shock-Fracture Test for Welded Joints in Connection with Welding Test #302

Abstract

Eight weldments prepared by the Philadelphia Navy Yard in connection with welding test No. 302 were forwarded to the Naval Research Laboratory for NRL shock-fracture test. The performance of welded and unwelded low alloy ballistic steel (302-M-1) compared favorable with that of special treatment steel (302-N-1) when subjected to the NRL shock-fracture test.
