Report on The Laboratory Evaluation of Hydraulic Oils: I - Methods for Inflammability Test

Abstract

This is the first in a series of studies of hydraulic oils undertaken to develop non-inflammable fluids for use in the hydraulic systems of naval vessels and aircrafts. It is necessary that laboratory tests be devised to simulate the fire hazards of actual practice under battle conditions in order that the hydraulic oils developed in the present program may be properly evaluated.
