Tailored Acquisition Timelines for System of Systems Equipment on Rotary-Wing Platforms

Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to review process timelines for the application of tailored acquisition approaches of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF), the Modification Work Order (MWO), and ancillary supporting Verification and Validation (V and V) processes for newly acquired System of Systems (SOS) material solutions. Additionally, this research paper is being completed to determine optimization opportunities as associated with the AAF, MWO and supporting processes. The developed analysis and findings, as well as, the change recommendations will frame and support optimization opportunities in the current AAF and MWO timelines that can be applied to future Army Aviation SOS procurement and fielding. Three recommendations for implementation were found to promote optimization opportunities during the research of the AAF, Army MWO, and Ancillary Supporting processes for rotary-wing aircraft. The research conducted highlighted five broad areas for future research.
