Improving Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Initiation in an Active Duty Clinic: A Process Improvement Project

Abstract

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the second most common sexually transmitted infection in the military. There is no cure for HPV-related cancers, only prevention. HPV can lead to cancers of the cervix, oropharynx, anus, vulva, vagina, and penis. HPV vaccines cover ninety-two percent of HPV-related cancers. HPV is not a required vaccination in the military system.
