Efficacy of Reference Object Calibration for Off-Angle Radiography

Abstract

Radiography is a critical element in the diagnosis and treatment of endodontic procedures. Periapical radiography, however, has limitations due to distortion caused by sensor and source angulation as well as the penumbra effect. This distortion, if not accounted for, canlead to inaccurate measurements when using in-software digital measuring tools. The purpose of this study is to compare the accuracy of the sensor calibration method to the reference object calibration method when using the digital measuring tool for off-angle radiography.
