Implementation of a Diabetes Risk Checklist to Identify Active Duty Service Members Susceptible to Diabetes

Abstract

The incidence of type 2 diabetes is growing in the younger population due to obesity, inactivity, and poor diet. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2020 guidelines recommends early screening for type 2 diabetes among high-risk populations who are asymptomatic. Current practice among military health care providers lacks standardization and does not include risk-based screening.
