Severing the Silk Road: Building Strategic Advantage in Latin America and the Caribbean

Abstract

Severing the Silk Road: Building Strategic Advantage in Latin America and the Caribbean focuses on the strategic opportunities the United States has in Latin America and the Caribbean to counter growing influence by the Peoples Republic of China in the Western Hemisphere. Through effective COVID pandemic support, fiscal and economic support through the Washington Consensus, and military partnerships, U.S. foreign policymakers have the opportunity to counter PRC predatory policies, military expansionism, and COVID-diplomacy.
