CS TAT Success Story JEDMICS Acceptance Testing

Abstract

In September 2022, the Peraton Team successful completed the migration of NAVAIR and Air Force JEDMICS production environments that were hosted at Naval Air Station Patuxent River and Robins Air Force Base (RAFB) to the NAVAIR AWS GovCloud environment. The NAVAIR JEDMICS system was the first Logistics Information Technology (LOG-IT) system to be migrated to the cloud and was a major milestone for the Aviation Logistics Environment (ALE) in building an infrastructure-agnostic platform and services solution to integrate specific modernized and legacy applications. The Peraton team, working with the NAVAIR Cloud Broker, configured the environments, supported the Authority to Operate (ATO) process to get Oracle products used by JEDMICS approved for use in the environment, coordinated stakeholder testing and performed the migration of data and images. The team also needed to develop new procedures to transform the database to operate on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) OS from Solaris OS. The team also developed procedures to continually update new images from legacy environment to AWS cloud environment using AWS S3 bucket. This procedure reduces downtime while final migration was occurring.
